There is a calendar attached to the forum. At the top of the page just under the search box you will see a link to it.
An event posted to the calendar can be linked to a forum post as well so that clicking on the event in the calendar will go to the post with more details of the event.
Posts in the forum can also be linked to the calendar after they are made.
If you want your event to be on the calendar and linked to a more detailed post here then follow these steps.
- Click the Calendar link above and scroll to the bottom where you will find the link to "Post Event"
- On the post event screen, fill in the event title, the dates and number of days the event will last.
- Check the box that says "Link Event To Post" and choose the General Category - Events section from the drop down list
- When you make that selection, the screen will change to include a message box. You will make the post here as well.
- Just fill out the subject and message as you normally would and click post. It will add the event to the calendar and link it to your post in the Events forum.
Putting your event on the calendar will increase it's views and making the calendar announcement linked to your post will help people easily get more detailed information about the event.
Any events of interest to the riding community can be announced, it doesn't just have to be rides and rallies. You can announce club meetings, or even a favorite band playing a local bar.
What is most important, and the main reason I started the calendar to begin with is to have a place to announce charity events so that participation in these rides will hopefully be increased and more people will benefit from the local riding community.
